Daniel and Viola Jares at The Holy Mary Shrine

On Sept. 18, 1986 in a rain soaked field about 300 yrds. from here, a devout Texas rancher, his tractor stuck deep in the mud with no help in sight, looked to heaven and pleaded to Our Blessed Mother Mary for aid. On Her instruction , he got back on his tractor and was miraculously freed , as if he had never been stuck! On returning to the house , his wife was struck by his “ glowing appearance ” and asked him “ What’s wrong ?”. He said, “ I’ve seen the Blessed Virgin Mary out in our field.”. In the following weeks and months Daniel told the story of the APPARITION and MIRACLE at PECAN GROVE , to all who would listen . Then in grateful Prayer to Her one night , She asked him to build this shrine in Her Honor on the roadside . So that all Her loving children could come to visit Her and ask for help. The following Spring , in 1987, he built this simple shrine in accordance to Her wishes and since then , many have come from near and far to visit Her ; and to ask for Her Help.

St. Francis prayer

Lord make me a channel of thy Peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love. Where there is offense, let me bring pardon. Where there is discord, let me bring union. Where there is error, let me bring truth. Where there is doubt, let me bring faith. Where there is despair, let me bring hope. Where there is darkness, let me bring your light. Where there is sadness, let me bring joy. Oh Master, let me not seek as much to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that one receives, it is in self forgetting that one finds, it is in pardoning that one is pardoned, it is in dying that one is raised to eternal life.

The Our Father prayer

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come, thy Will be done. On Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory. Forever and ever. Amen.
